Meet the Team - David McNicholas

Longest member of Staff - David McNicholas - using Woodrow's data collection app.

Pictured testing the latest version of our in-house phone app, David McNicholas is a highly skilled ecologist with six years professional experience.  David now co-ordinates all Woodrow’s field work and field staff.  Ability to manage projects from conception/scoping stage to completion of reports for clients as per statutory requirements.  Expertise in bird surveying and identification, and an active contributor to the BirdWatch Ireland, the British Trust for Ornithology and the National Biodiversity Data Centre.  Natural oral communicator with highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills that have been vital for client/community liaison work at Woodrow Sustainable Solutions Ltd.  A keen interest in upskilling, being a member of the North West Raptor Study Group, British Trust for Ornithology, Mountain Rescue Ireland, Mountaineering Ireland, has completed training in the bird ringing and currently holds a “C” permit to ring a wide variety of species including nestling raptors, gulls, corvids, herons and egrets. An experienced bird ringer, is involved in the colour ringing of peregrine falcons since 2012, a long term project coordinated by National Parks and Wildlife Service which aims to understand the population and movement of peregrines in the north west of Ireland.  An Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (ACIEEM).
