Fionn Murphy is an ecologist who started with Woodrow in early 2021. Having graduated from an environmental science degree from the National University of Ireland Galway in 2012, Fionn emigrated to Denmark (and then later Germany), where he remained for seven years before returning to Ireland in 2019. In this time, he earned his M.Sc. in environmental science from the University of Copenhagen, going on to work in a variety of research and consulting roles in both Denmark and Germany.
Fionn’s professional highlight from this period was his work on Lake Constance, culminating in an award from the Count of Wisborg, a first author scientific publication and a severe bacterial infection arising from a mosquito bite. Since his return to Ireland, Fionn has been involved in a broad range of projects in ecological consulting including wind energy developments, forestry, infrastructural projects and quarrying. In addition to being a multi-disciplinary field ecologist, he has experience in project management and reporting.
When he is not crawling through fields or getting sunburned on lakes throughout the country, Fionn is also passionate about cooking. Having spent two stressful years in kitchen environments (after being mistaken for a chef), he now prefers the more relaxed environment of his home kitchen.
