Leona is a native of county Sligo and joined the Woodrow team in December 2024 as an Ecology support and data officer. Having grown up in a house that values the outdoors, she has always been drawn to Animals and nature which led her to her degree.

Leona studied Zoology in the national university of Ireland Galway and graduated with a first-class honours in 2022. Leona joined the Venom systems Lab in NUI Galway in 2020 as an Intern Ecologist, and the Dog Lab of the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna as a research intern in 2022. Most of her research has revolved around spiders and venom, however after traveling through Asia and Australia she developed a great appreciation for biodiversity.

She is always keen to expand her skill set and learn from other. Outside of work Leona loves the outdoors, hiking, swimming and camping. She also enjoys baking, crocheting and photography.
