Damien is from County Mayo and grew up in a small village on the northwest coast outside of Belmullet. He graduated with a BSc in Environmental Science from IT Sligo (now ATU) in 2020, and has since worked in data analytics, as well as three years in ecological consultancy, gaining extensive experience in species and habitat surveying, and report writing having worked as an Ecologist in Limerick and Mayo in the past, and has now made his way back to Sligo, joining Woodrow as a Bat Ecologist.His batwork experience involves carrying out emergence/re-entry bat surveys and activity transect surveys for bats, deployment of static bat detectors, analysis of bat calls and report writing.

Damien is an active volunteer with Bat Conservation Ireland (BCI), undertaking surveys as part of the All Ireland Daubenton’s Bat Waterways Survey, and more recently as a member of The Bat Panel with BCI.

Outside of work, Damien lives with the afflictions of being both a Mayo GAA and Man United sufferer.
