Fern joined Woodrow as an Assistant Ecologist in 2024 after two years working as an independent ecological consultant. Previous experience managing Article 17 monitoring surveys along the Irish Coasts and practical conservation experience in upland habitats in the Mournes helped her transition into the botanical team at Woodrow. Her background in botany comes from a lifelong love of nature and an undergraduate in Botany and Plant Sciences with NUI Galway, graduating in August 2022. Fern has specialised in peatland conservation and coastal ecology. Alongside botanical and habitat mapping, she has multidisciplinary skills including experience in bird, bat and land mammal surveys.
