Sophie is an experienced Ecologist at Woodrow with a specialization in botany, possessing extensive knowledge in habitat and botanical identification, including surveys of protected species and habitats. With a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Sciences (Oldenburg, Germany) and more than four years of dedicated work in ecology, her expertise spans a comprehensive range of ecological assessment methodologies and surveying techniques.
Since joining Woodrow, she has acquired substantial experience in Appropriate Assessment and Natura Impact Statements. She has participated in a variety of surveys, including large-scale upland habitat surveys involving mapping, quadrats for habitat monitoring assessments, monitoring of rare plant species, and surveys of protected wild animals (including e.g. badgers, bats, marsh fritillary). Additionally, she has made significant contributions to GIS mapping, data management, and report preparation, while also effectively managing projects. Her experience further includes managing Post-Construction Compliance Monitoring (PCCM) wind farm projects.
Sophie is a member of the Botanical Society of Britain and Ireland (BSBI), the British Bryological Society (BBS) and the German Society of Orthopterology (DGfO). She is also in the process of applying for membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).
